Hey y’all, I’m Kiana, a sophomore computer science major from Chino Hills, California.
I chose Huston-Tillotson University for its strong academic foundation, diverse community, and commitment to student success. Attending HT allowed me to refocus on striving for excellence, and being seen and heard by the staff and faculty has truly made all the difference.
Coming from California, I knew adjusting to an out-of-state school might be challenging, but HT’s welcoming environment helped me thrive. I founded CaliBound, an organization for students from all regions of California, to create a network where students can find a sense of community and support while experiencing Austin and HT life.
Additionally, being part of Collegiate 100 has further strengthened my leadership skills and connected me with like-minded peers who are dedicated to making a positive impact in the community.
HT is more than a university. It’s a place where students grow, lead, and belong.
If you’re looking for a place where you can truly belong, HT is waiting for you! Apply today for Fall 2025!
Hey yall, I'm Odell!
Hey yall, I’m Odell! I am a rising sophomore political science major from the island of Great Abaco, Bahamas. Coming to HT was a big step in my life. I always knew I wanted to study in the United States, and I had a few scholarships and schools to choose from, like Langston University and the University of North Alabama, but HT offered me a full scholarship at the Alpha Phi Alpha convocation in Nassau. The move from the Bahamas to Austin was not easy, but it helped me grow. I had to adjust to a new culture, learn to be more independent, and focus on my goals. Along the way, I met supportive friends and professors who made my transition smoother.
HT has made a big difference in how I see my future. It has helped me become more confident and clear about what I want to do. I want to become an insurance lawyer and later go into politics to benefit my country. Being at HT has given hope and motivation to reach those dreams. After graduation, I plan to go to law school, then return home to make a positive impact in my community. I am thankful for the opportunities HT has given to me and I’m excited for what comes next.

Hey, I'm Bhrook.
I am a rising sophomore Education major from Coldspring, Texas. My freshman year at Huston-Tillotson University was a year of growth, self-discovery, and valuable life lessons. One of the most important things I learned was the importance of standing firm on my boundaries and prioritizing both my physical and emotional well-being. I’ve realized that if I don’t respect my own limits, I can’t expect others to. Taking care of myself isn’t selfish it’s essential. Another major part of my journey was strengthening my relationship with God. I truly believe that without the effort I put into growing closer to Him, my freshman year would have been much harder. I’m so thankful for the people who encouraged me to deepen my faith, as it became the foundation that helped me stay grounded.
Equally important to my experience were the friendships I built along the way. From Welcome Week to finals, the people I’ve met have played a major role in making my first year memorable and meaningful. They pushed me to get out of my comfort zone, helped me stay motivated, and supported me through times when I felt like isolating myself. Their presence reminded me that I wasn’t alone, even in my lowest moments. Despite the ups and downs, my time at HT has been filled with lessons, laughter, and love. I’m incredibly grateful for every part of the journey and excited for what’s to come.
