The Office of Residence Life at Huston-Tillotson University offers a vibrant, supportive, and diverse residential experience where students can flourish both academically and personally. We provide a range of living options—from traditional residence halls to contemporary suite-style accommodations all designed to promote student development, community building, and academic success.

The Office of Residence Life at Huston-Tillotson University offers a wide range of programs and services designed to support student success, personal growth, and community engagement. Our team provides intentional programming that promotes leadership development, cultural awareness, academic support, and wellness. From social events and educational workshops to peer mentoring and community service opportunities, we strive to create a vibrant residential experience that extends beyond the classroom. Additionally, our services include 24/7 on-call support, roommate mediation, housing accommodations, and a dedicated team of Resident Assistants who help foster a positive and inclusive living environment. Through these efforts, we aim to create a home where every student feels supported, connected, and empowered.

The Students Affairs team is delighted to welcome you back to the Huston-Tillotson University FRAMily.

As move-in day approaches, we want to ensure that you have all the information you need for a smooth and enjoyable transition into the HT community.

Move in Instructions
On move-in day, families will check in at the Chalmers gate located on Chalmers Ave. Once parked, families will proceed to the gym to retrieve their complete the clearance process and retrieve their gold ticket. Once you are cleared to move in, families will be guided to the Chicon entrance where they will check in at the front gate, then briefly park in front of the residence halls, unload their belongings then move their vehicles to the parking lot located on Chalmers Avenue. From there families may return to the residence halls by walking through the Chalmers entrance to help their students unpack and set up their room.
Move in Window
To ensure a smooth check-in process, students must move in during one of the two designated windows:
- Alpha Window: 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM
- Gamma Window: 1:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Move in Days
We are here to support you and ensure your transition to HT is as smooth as possible. We look forward to welcoming you to HT!
- August 15 – New International students
- August 17 – New freshmen & transfer students
- August 22 – Returning students
Teresa Hall Residents
Students who are housed at Teresa Hall must check in at Hutson-Tillotson University before moving in. Upon arriving at HT, students will park in lot 25 located on Chalmers Ave. From there, you will be guided to the Gym to complete the clearance process. Once cleared, you may report to Teresa Hall. Teresa Hall is located at 3001 South Congress Ave Building TERE, Austin, TX 78704. When you arrive, you can park in lot U located on the south side of the building. Moving carts will be available in the lobby area.

Spring'25 Move-in Day

We look forward to welcoming new and returning Rams. Swipe and you will find dates, times, move-in procedures and guidelines to assist parents and students with parking for moving into the residence halls. Locate your residence hall and screenshot the map for directions to the designated parking areas.
There are specific day and times for student move-in. Any student requiring an alternative time and day to move-in must provide written request within 48-hours by contacting the Office of Residence Life by emailing reslife@htu.edu or 512.505.3331.
